Ohio Buckles Buckeyes

Fayette County Public Health serves as Fayette County’s Ohio Buckles Buckeyes distribution site.

The Ohio Department of Health’s child passenger safety (CPS) program, Ohio Buckles Buckeyes (OBB), provides child safety seats and booster seats to eligible low-income families in all Ohio counties. The overall goal of this program is to increase the availability of child safety seats for families who could not otherwise afford them and to increase the correct installation and proper use of child safety seats.

Requirements for the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes Program
In order to receive an OBB seat, families:

1) Must attend an educational class provided by trained local CPS staff. In this session, the parent/caregiver(s) receives important education on how to properly use the car seat for their child, and they are instructed on how to correctly install the seat in their vehicle.

2)  Must have an income within WIC guidelines although the recipient does not need to be enrolled in the WIC Program

3) Must be a resident of Fayette County

Community Education
The Child Passenger Safety Technicians are available to provide community education to parents. If you represent an organization in the community and would like for a technician to speak at one of your classes or events, call 740-335-5111 for scheduling information.

United Way of Fayette County supports the Child Passenger Safety program by providing funding for additional seats and education.
