Help Me Grow Home Visiting

thHelp Me Grow Home Visitors teach new moms how to keep their children healthy; coach families on how to be great parents; and provide one one-on-one support. Home visitors are there for moms and babies at the most important time in their lives.

The Help Me Grow Home Visiting program provides expectant or new parents with the information, support, and encouragement they need through a voluntary, high-quality home visiting service.

By supporting positive interactions with children in stable and stimulating environments, Help Me Grow seeks to create a sturdy foundation for future achievement. Ultimately, this approach is essential to the educational and economic success of Ohio’s children and families.

The Help Me Grow Home Visiting program has four central goals:

  1. Increase healthy pregnancies;
  2. Improve parenting confidence and competence;
  3. Increase family connectedness to community and social supports;
  4. Improve child health, development, and readiness.

Fayette County Public Health serves as Fayette County’s Ohio Buckles Buckeyes distribution site.

The Ohio Department of Health’s child passenger safety (CPS) program, Ohio Buckles Buckeyes (OBB), provides child safety seats and booster seats to eligible low-income families in all Ohio counties. The overall goal of this program is to increase the availability of child safety seats for families who could not otherwise afford them and to increase the correct installation and proper use of child safety seats.

Requirements for the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes Program

In order to receive an OBB seat, families:

  1. Must attend an educational class provided by trained local CPS staff. In this session, the parent/caregiver(s) receives important education on how to properly use the car seat for their child, and they are instructed on how to correctly install the seat in their vehicle.
  2. Must have an income within WIC guidelines although the recipient does not need to be enrolled in the WIC Program
  3. Must be a resident of Fayette County

Please call 740-335-5111 to schedule an appointment.
