WIC

WIC-logo-768x288Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a nutrition education and supplemental food program for infants, children through age 4, and pregnant, postpartum and nursing mothers. WIC ensures that young children receive good nutrition, giving them a healthy start in life. Parents receive information on health and nutrition. WIC has proven to be an effective child health and education program. For the current schedule of classes, call 740-333-3552.

Breastfeeding Support

WIC staff is available to help mothers who need assistance, support, or education regarding breastfeeding.

Peer Helpers

Breastfeeding peer helpers are women who have been on WIC and have personal breastfeeding experience. They give mother-to-mother information and support which helps mothers reach their breastfeeding goals.  Peer Helpers connect with families, help with common concerns, and give encouragement.

Peer Helpers have been through the transition of a pregnant woman to a breastfeeding mother.

Periodically throughout your pregnancy and after delivery, your Peer Helper will contact you to offer support. She will be available to answer any questions or concerns you might have. The goal of this program is to help mothers overcome any breastfeeding barriers and to offer positive support and encouragement when problems do arise. Any questions you might have are important to us no matter how big or small.

Peer helpers help moms address issues such as getting off to a good start with breastfeeding and maintaining a healthy milk supply. Resources such as breast pumps and classes will be available to all moms. Call  740-333-3552 to be connected to a peer helper.
